Lake Powell Trip

So Par & I recently took a weekend fishing trip to Lake Powell with some friends from high school. It was my first time venturing to Lake Powell, so I was pretty excited. I'm thinking sunshine, fishing on the lake, swimming, etc. All the fun things you do on a lake during the summer. So I packed capri's, tank tops, and short sleeved shirts. Well our trip was set for the middle of April. Those of you who have been to Lake Powell in April are probably laughing at me right about now. Needless to say, I froze my butt off! It snowed while we were driving there and that didn't look very promising . It rained the first night we were there and I don't think it hit above 50 degrees or so.

On Friday, we decided to do a little fishing even though it was cold. We didn't catch any fish but Par made a new friend... I guess ducks like Doritos and Sour Patch Kids! haha

Fishing was fun and the landscape was beautiful!

The second day of fishing we did a lot better! We trolled out on the lake for a few hours and we caught a few stripers! And guess who caught the first fish on our boat?? That's right! Yours truely!

Birthday Shenanigans

So Par's birthday was last week. And for those of you who know my husband, you know he loves hunting, fishing, camping, 4-wheeling, and pretty much anything outdoors. So, for his birthday this year I made him a camo cake. I did a little research and found a quick and easy way to bake this off of nothing other than Pinterest.

So I mixed up a box of french vanilla cake mix and separated the batter into three bowls. I left the first plain and used food coloring to dye the other two. I then dropped different amounts of each colored batter into my cake pan and I think I miraculously didn't screw it up.

Pretty cool, huh?
It then went into the oven for a while, however, it did take an extra 20-30 minutes longer than normal to bake. I think it's because of the extra liquid from the food coloring, but I could be wrong. I frosted it with cream cheese frosting because it is delicious and I wanted to surprise Par with the inside of the cake. And the final product was pretty cool! I will say that if / when I make this again, I will use less white colored batter. It seemed like I had A LOT more of that color than the other two.

Along with this pretty bombin cake, the entire Louder family went out to eat. We celebrated three birthdays for that dinner, Parley, Colton, & Kayelyn. The twins' birthday is the day after Par's. This ended up being a pretty epic adventure with a very sick husband.

We went out to eat at the Pelican Cafe in Roosevelt. They have this cheeseburger named the "Valley Burger." This burger is a beast! It is 2 whopping pounds of ground beef with one generous pound of cheese, all on a massive hamburger bun.

At the Pelican they have this challenge where if you order this burger, eat everything including the onion rings / fries, sides of lettuce, onions, & tomatoes, and your drink, you will either get a free shirt or your burger for free.

So naturally, ALL of the guys had to take on the challenge.

When they started out they were pretty excited... But then it got REAL! haha

Sadly, Par couldn't finish the beast!  So Louie & Murph had a great treat once we got home from dinner! I do believe that was the first and last time Par will attempt to dominate the Valley Burger.

We are the Louders

Yes, I have finally jumped on the blogging bandwagon! My main reason, you may ask? To keep my family updated since we live far enough away from them and to give me something to occupy some of my unused time since I live in the boonies.

To start off, my name is Stacie and I'm married to a pretty amazing guy named Parley.
We are the Louders.

We have been married for 2 1/2 years and have 2 adorable kids named Louie and Murphy. Oh, and did I mention that our kids are dogs? Yes, they are dogs who are like our children. We don't have any mini-me's  running a muck just yet, but one day. For now, we'll settle for our cute pooches!

Par works in the oil fields out here in the basin and I work for the local electrical co-op. I work up front and really like being in an office. Recently my work did an ugly Christmas sweater contest this year..... Needless to say it was a pretty fun day at work.

I will try to update this every so often so that you can see our adventures during the year. I'm excited for 2015 and everything that we have planned thus far!
